Early Palmer families residences. [No photo attached to this record.] Baker City Directories (1899 to 1905) have the following addresses for members of Palmer famileis, which play a big part in Joe Labadie's family genealogical book "150 Years of Eastern Oregon History: The Barton-Shumway Family," still in unfinished manuscript form. Labadie is a retired National Park Service archeologist living in Comstock, Texas, who had done much genealogy research in NE Oregon. 1606 1st St. Almira E. Palmer, widow of John Palmer. Present location of Coles funeral home. 2145 Place St. Robert R. Palmer, saddlemaker. Dr. Robert McKim tells me that this was in the middle of the south side of Place, that the house was moved to the SW corner of 2nd and Place. 223 Bridge St. Charles L. Palmer, grocer and three-time mayor of Baker City. At the time of his death, he was living at 1533 2nd. 1416 3rd St. Kate M. Palmer, widow of Frank Palmer. 1336 3rd St. Charles C. Palmer, jeweler.
