Description Baker Concert Band on steps of Old Post Office. According to the booklet: Oldest amateur band in Oregon. 7-17-1901 two bands merged to become the White Swan Band in honor of Letson Baillet, who furnished uniforms and largest drum in the U. S. Changed to present name 9-7-1907. Conductor L. E. Freitag. Band played for a week at Lewis and Clark Exposition in 1905, at Elks conventions in LA and Portland in 1910 and 1912 and at Pendleton Roundup in 1911. They performed the opera Mikado at the Opera House in 1908, and several minstrel shows, and a vaudeville show in at the Baker Theatre in 1915. The donors of the Baker City Park (Geiser-Pollman Park) built a beautiful band shell for the band.
