Brooks Hawley note: Now in 1966 where are we? Only Inez Worley and Brooks Hawley still live in Sumpter Valley. Most of them can be accounted for, but these have died: Agnes Rowe, Lloyd Izatt, Green Hudspeth, Harry Duckworth, and Cecil Linville went down on the cruiser Indanapolis in 1945 just after the war had ended. Rileys, Tibbs, and Rowes are not here, but we hear from some of them. Georgia Hudspeth, Elizabeth Holland, Charlie Lockhart, Mary Rowe, Effie Tibbs, Cora Riley come sometimes. There are only two married couples from this group: Elizabeth and Lloyd Izatt, Mary and Charles Lockhart. The old building is charished by Baker families: Reagans, Bowles, and Shucks for weekends. |
