Description Main St., south end of 1700 block west side, resent site of Chevron service station. The two-story brick building with entrance on Resort St. opposite Chinatown, was built sometime before 1888 by a Chinese person. Later for several years until 1906 it housed a white brothel.

The ten-horse team pulled a steam calliope wagon, part of a parade in connection with the Hanlon Volters act advertised on the billboard. The Hanlon Volters (acrobats) consisted of James, Robert, and William Hanlon. Robert and James were brothers, but William was not related. The Hanlons' performance in Baker City could have been in 1891 or in1890, when the act first came to the U.S. William died July 14, 1891, in Lyons, Iowa, when the trapeze bar broke and he fell 30 feet.
