Description Yo-Yo Tommy Moore. In 1951, at age 10, Tommy Moore won a Baker city-wide yo-yo competition. Later that year, he competed in the Oregon state yo-yo championship and placed 5th winning a Schwinn bicycle. After Moore retired at age 44 from his profession as financial advisor, he spent the next couple of decades putting on yo-yo demonstrations at elementary schools around the United States. The Duncan family, of Duncan yo-yo company fame, donated a yo-yo exhibit to the Smithsonian Museum. The Duncans, who had befriended Moore, invited Moore to do a yo-yo demonstration in Washington, DC, at the opening of the exhibit.
