Description |
Johanna A. Packwood, nee O'Brien. Born 6-25-1842, died in Baker City 10-14-1926. Buried at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Came to Auburn as first school teacher in 1862. Fr. Toussaint Meplie married Johanna O'Brien and William F. Packwood on Oct. 23, 1862, and she quit teaching soon after. Later in the 1860's she lived at and helped operated Olds' Ferry at Farewell Bend. In the late 1860's they moved to Baker City, where she operated the Packwood Hotel at 2023 1st Street. |
