Gertrude was born in Portland, Oregon, 11-8-1908, to Ernest and Mattie Turner. The family moved to Spokane, Washington. After her parents divorced in the early 1920's, mother and daughter moved to Baker City, where Gertrude graduated from Baker High School in 1925. She attended Normal School in Cheney, Washington, and then began teaching seventh graders at Imbler, Oregon. Later she graduated from the University of Washington. She began teaching at Baker High School in 19??. She married ______ and they had a son, John, born in 1940. She married Marion C. Inman at Ontario on August 18, 1945, who had a son, Roger (BHS '56), by a previous marriage. Marion owned the Courthouse Market and later was a partner in Our Market. Gertrude taught at Baker High School from 19?? until retirement in 1969. Marion was born 2-17-1909 and died 9-28-1983. Gertrude died in Baker City 10-28-2005 at age 96. They are both buried at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Baker City.
