Description	Genevieve "Jennie" Cunning Bowen (1885 to 1984). Jennie was a classmate and close friend of May Denham. Jennie was born 4-13-1885 to William and Mary Bowen, who lived at 1304 3rd, a couple of blocks south of the Denham family. Jennie taught in the Baker school system, probably grade school at first, but by 1919 she was teaching English at the high school. Last mention of her as a teacher in Baker was in 1924. Probably shortly after that she married Harry S. Bowen, a clothing store owner (H. S. Bowen Men's store at 1834 Main). Harry was about 13 years older, it was his second marriage. They lived at 2535 1st. Harry died about 1940. Jennie returned to live with her mother. Jennie died in January 1984 at age 98.Jennie's younger sister, Mamie, married Democrat-Herald publisher Lucien P. Arant.
