DeWitt Museum. Gail DeWitt with a 49's anvil, a rare museum piece. Picture at left is of Mr. & Mrs. Austin. Photo taken Oct. 6, 1961.
Brooks Hawley note: Gail and Peacha DeWitt's first exhibit was their agates, and then they added everything in local history for more interest. Gail DeWitt died Nov. 3, 1961, less than two months aftere these pictures were taken, but he seemed in good health then. Gail and Peacha DeWitt were preparing to quit living at the ranch and to move the museum to Prairie City, where they ahd been living in the winters. They had sold the main part of the ranch a few years before.
