Description	Bell, Rev. J. R. N. Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church at Baker City from 1894 to 1897 and 1900 to 1906. Brooks Hawley note: Rev. J. R. N. Bell was so prominent in Sumpter activities in the boom times. Rev. Bell liked to be in the thick of things and was very popular. He could conduct services in a saloon as well as in a church. He was sepecially a marrying parson. He was always available to speak at any event, and he was good for 4th of July speeches. [And he was a Shakespeare scholar giving speeches about the English bard. gd]
