Description |
Viola "Vie" Ely Hardy posing with her brother Rayford "Ray" Ely and her sisters Grace Ely (far left) and Hazel Ely (Ray's wife). The photo was taken in Ray and Hazel's house. Viola saved for posterity many effects from the life of Baker County pioneer James W. Virtue by giving them to Baker County Library. Viola's husband, Edwin "Ted" Hardy, was the son of Lilah Virtue Hardy, daughter of James W. Virtue. Ted died leaving no descendants, thus he was the last of Virtue's line. So when Pearl Jones contacted Viola in the late 1980's, she decided to pass Ted's collection of Virtue family memorabilia to Baker County Library. |
