Description Pleasant Armstrong. Black-bordered invitation to his hanging 1-22-1904, issued to A. V. Ferguson. Albert V. Ferguson was in the real estate and insurance business with James F. Ferguson at 2023 Washington St. Both resided at 1558 Dewey. The sheriff issued about 500 invitations, which allowed one to stand within the 14-foot-high board enclosure on the south side of the 2nd Baker County Courthouse. A 1000-2000 people were gathered outside the enclosure.

Also in the folder is an article ca. 1955 by Maxine Makinson about the Pleasant Armstrong case.
There is also a letter dated 12-1-1955 from Alberta E. Outcalt of La Jolla, CA, who sent the permit to O.H.P. McCord at the request of her father, Albert V. Ferguson, who attended the hanging, as did McCord.
