Description Samuel Baisley Family. Sam (4-1-1849 to ?) and his wife are on each side in front. The children are Haven, Gertrude, Lela, and Perry. Sam and his brothers James L. and Jerry C. were miners. James discovered the famous Baisely-Elkhorn Mine. Sam lived in a house south of Pocahontas about seven miles west of Baker City. It is identical to the two houses on the west side of the 2300 block of Main St.: what we call the Adler House was probably built by James and Jennie Baisley in 1889 and sold to Carl Adler in 1890; the other house was the Samuel Baer house.
