Description George Chandler, cattleman. "(Summarized.) Born in Missouri September 1, 1845. Came to Baker County in 1862. He began ranching at Wingville in 1874. In 1888 began raising thoroughbred stock, Herefords and Shorthorns. Today he is the largest dealer in the state. Owns 960 acres on Powder River, in addition to his home place of 160 acres at Wingville and 480 acre ranch on Wolf Creek in Union County. He has represented Baker County in the legislature and also as senator for Baker and Malheur counties." (There's a whole paragraph of detail about the lineage of his best cattle.)
