Collection Bane, James B.
Description SVRy. Austin Depot looking east. The identification of these photos are from J. B. "Bret" Bane, archivist and historian for the Sumpter Valley Railroad organization.

The second shot is 251 backing empties toward the mill at Bates. The train will have ran around the balloon track at Austin having arrived from Baker. They had a siding between Austin and Bates where the loads were staged ready for pickup and on the other track the empties would be left. The 3rd photo is at the S Wye water tank below Sumpter, and of course that is caboose 5. Not sure the location in photo 4. #5 is in the Bowen Valley. RS&P says minus 5, but we have a set of Kindig's photos in the archives where he wrote on the back -10! The 6th one is probably up toward Thompson. Not sure of the location in #7. #8 is up in Boudler Gorge and not sure on #9. These photos are from slides that the archives holds. The slides are going bad, and these are from my crude attempts at photo editing to get the color right. Hope you enjoy these, and if you would like to see more from time to time, let me know as I am sometimes sharing photos with multiple groups of friends and can include you.

Best Regards,
Bret.
