Description Ballard Bridge girder on wagon headed to construction site in 1926. Attached to the photo was this letter: "Homestead, Ore., Jan. 17, 1927. Muegge Drug Co., Baker, Ore., Dear Sir, Please finish 6 pictures. This is a picture of Harold Burns hauling one piece of the bridge steel down the river road. Weighs ninty seven hundred lbs. 40 feet long. I tho't this information might be of interest as it concerns the new bridge across Snake River. Yours truly, Mrs. H. W. Burns."
The bridge was removed in 1965 during construction of Hells Canyon Dam. It was replaced by the interstate bridge was built at Copperfield/Oxbow. At the site of the bridge today is an Idaho Power campground several miles below Homestead reached by a road on the Idaho side of the river.
