Description SVRy. Engine # 50, a Baldwin, in South Baker.

Brooks Hawley note: No. 50, a Baldwin, was new in 1916, cost $11,277. It's Sumpter Valley hitch ceased in 1941, two weeks after Pearl Harbor. In 1944 it was sold to the government of Peru. Haven't heard how it made out in South America. Don't knowwhy it wasn't called a Mikado, same as its partners, Nos. 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20. Does a Mikado have to have four drivers on a side? No. 50 was smaller than its pals, 14 to 23 tons less. No. 50 weighed 41 tons, tender 16 tons light weight.
