SVRy. Mikado engine # 18. Brooks Hawley notes: No. 18, a Mikado type, a standby on the Sumpter Valley logging trains for many years. Nos 16 & 17 were similar engines. The Mikado engines were the only ones bought new, being 6 new engines, counting No. 50 classed as a ten wheeler, a smaller engine, that is Nos. 16, 17, 18 were the saem, and Nos. 19 and 20 were the same. There would be a train load of about 50 cars of lumber and logs not showing. Data on the Mikados from Earl Emlaw: Nos. 16, 17, 18 Same dimensions, Baldwin locomotives, wheels 2-8-2, diameter 42", cylinders 17" x 22", steam 180 lbs., light weight engine 110,400 lbs, tender 31, 511 lbs., tender capacity 4,000 gal. water, 6 1/2 cords wood. Nos. 19, 20 American Locomotive Co., 2-8-2, diameter 44", cylinders 19" x 20", light weight engine 128,000 lbs., tender 74,000 lbs., steam 170 lbs. No. 50 A ten wheeler 4-6-0, Baldwin, light weight engine 82, 480 lbs., tender 31,511 lbs. Engines Nos. 19 and 20 were sent to White Pass and Yukon R. R. (with tenders from No. 16 and No. 18. Tenders Nos. 19 and 20 were used on the later Mallets No. 250 and No. 251. Engines Nos. 16, 17, 18, 50 were sold for delivery to government of Peru. No. 16 new in 1915, cost $12,955, quit January 1, 1943 No. 17 new in 1915, cost $14,456, quit August 1, 1944 No. 18 new in 1915, cost $13,223, quit January 1, 1943 No. 19 new in 1920, cost $28,670, quit January 1, 1941 No. 20 new in 1920, cost $28,782, quit January 1, 1941 No. 50 new in 1916, cost $11,277, quit December 31, 1941
