Description SVRy engine #251 (2-6-6-2 Mallet) near Larch, July 29, 1946. Built in 1928 by Baldwin Locomotive Co. for Uintah Railway, this locomotive and its sister #250 (built in 1926) were 45 feet long, 118,000 lbs. engine weight, and reputed to be the largest narrow guage locomotives ever built. They were sold to SVRy in 1940. They operated until 1947, when they were dismantled and sold to International Railways of Central America. #251 was operated until 1962 when it was scrapped and used as spare parts for engine #250, which also ended up in Guatemala.
