Description |
Map showing mines in Baker County in about 1900.
A rare detail on the map is the location of Minersville, a mining camp north of McEwen. According to the Oregon Geographic Places website, it's location was 44.73472 -118.05278, which would be at the confluence of Miners Creek and E. Miners Creek. Retired geologist Howard Brooks says he believes it was a placer mining camp.
Brooks Hawley note: This map of around 1900, an approximate date from fact that SVRy goes only to Sumpter, is a copy of one at the University of Oregon. This map does not show everything, but includes some odds and ends of mines of little consequence and completely forgotten.
