Description	Mammoth Mine. Brooks Hawley note: "The Mammoth Mine was the first quartz claim in the Sumpter quadrangle, staked out in 1866 supposedly. The first 5-stamp mill was built in 1879, the same year as the 20-stamp mill was built at the Monumental mine, which was also one of the first mines, located 1870 or 1874 or 1876. When Everett Boorse and I were there in 1960, we found the framing of the trestle leading into the mill still standing."
