Columbia Mine. Machine shop interior.
This same photo is in Hawley photo album #10, p. 13. He had the following comments:
"Fred Inman looked at these pictures April 12, 1961. The shop is familiar as where Fred Inman was head mechanic 1908-1916. The lathe to the left was used for wrapping sheets of zinc on the drum and then wearing away in very fine cuttings like hay, such as in the bags to the right. The zinc shavings were used in the concentrator treatment after t he cynide process."
