| French Diggings Mine. Located ca. 5 miles SW of Anthony Lake. Brooks Hawley notes: "French Diggings, like the Klopp Placer further down, covers the most of a square mile, but it was not reported as especially rich. This section of the race would indicate it had to be blasted. This is a very interesting placer to brood on. How Thibadeau and Nado made out. Doc Curry of Baker had a round on it. Likely over a million dollars came out of here, only accounted for by large extent of workings. It was first located in 1883. French Diggins is way back, best reached by Jeep." |
