Description Columbia Mine. Mill.

Note by Brooks Hawley on back of photo: "The Columbia Mine was by a considerable margin the most productive and best managed mine here due to the efficient management of Frank Baillie, who was in continuous charge from 1897 until a few months before the mine shut down in 1916. No other mine had such a continuous run of around 20 years. Total production was about $4,000,000.

"This shows the 20-stamp mill. The shaft house was farther to the right. A cyanide plant was farther down the draw to the left. The mine was owned by E. W. Backus of Minneapolis and Frank Bailie also had a share."
