Description |
Buffalo Mine. Brooks Hawley has written on back of photo: "The mill at the Buffalo Mine in present times. In recent years the Buffalo Mine has often been the only gold and silver mine and mill operating in Oregon. Jim and Frances Jackson have put in many years at this mine. Tony Brandenthaler has control of the mine at present. It is considered that ore must run around $50 a ton to pay to mine now. This mill was built in 1940, a 35-ton ball mill, after a previous mill burned. The Buffalo Mine has produced somewhat over a million dollars. It was located in 1879 but it was not so famous in the earlier times."
