Description |
Mother Lode Mine. Bunkhouse and 200 visitors. This photo was scanned from a March 22, 1925, edition of The Sunday Oregonian. Caption reads: "Two hundred visitors inspect Mother Lode property and are astonished by indications of vast hidden wealth in copper, gold and silver." In the file folder is a long article that accompanies the photos. In the early 1900's there was much speculation that the area from Keating to Homestead contained a huge band of copper ore. But no significant amounts of copper were ever produced except at the Iron Dyke Mine at Homestead.
