Description |
Cracker-Oregon Mine from a Sampson Co. prospectus to consolidate the Cracker Creek District mines under a single ownership. F. Wallace White founded the Sampson Company. Ltd., through which he swindled millions from investors in a stock fraud scheme. (Read more about White in Miles F. Potter's Oregon's Golden Years (1982), pp. 60-63.) White had a large mansion at the upper end of Bourne. The Cracker-Oregon mill dominated the upper end of Bourne a little above White's mansion. |
