Description |
Olive Lake. Construction of dam to store water for the Fremont Power Co. generators located six miles east. Water was carried to the power plant in a wooden pipeline. You can still find remnants of the wood and the metal bands on the drive to Olive Lake, which is located in Grant County about 15 miles west of Granite. The electricity was originally meant to power the Red Boy Mine several miles down the mountain from the power station. Writing at bottom of photo reads bottom left: "E. W. Cummings Constructing Engineers" and bottom right: "Dam at Olive Lake, Fremont Power Co." This photo was scanned from an 8 x 10 inch contact print of a glass negative. The negative is stored in the Library's Archive Room. |
