||Sparta. Joseph A. Wright store. This stone building, which still stands, was built in 1872 by brothers Sigmund and Seligmann (aka E. D. Cohn) Heilner, German immigrants, who had come after doing business for a number of years in northern California and SW Oregon. Two years later Sigmund married Clara Heilner and moved to Baker City, where the brothers built a store on the NW corner of Main and Court streets, known as the Neuberger-Heilner Building.
