Description Grave of Henry Griffin above Auburn, Oregon. Griffin is the man who made the first gold strike in Baker County in a gulch named for him south of Baker City in October 1861.

Note of back of photo written by O. H. P. McCord: "The grave of Henry Griffin, who is buried in the Auburn Cemetery. Mr. Griffin, David Littlefield, and two other men discovered gold in what is now known as Griffin's Gulch in the fall of 1861."
