Description Shockley & McMurren Lumber Co., Door and Box Factory. "(Summarized.) Founded many years ago by McMurren and Crabill. Proprietors are by Albert S. Shockley and A. L. McMurren since 1893. (City directory has 2701 Court.) They have a planing mill, box factory, and lumber yard. Manufacture sash doors, blinds and mouldings, and carry window and glass plate. McMurren is a native of Oregon. Shockley has been in Oregon since age 3. He came to Baker City in 1874 and was a grocer for two years. Then a bookkeeper for McMurren & Crabill. They sold out to W. N. Thomas & Co. and Baker City Consolidated Lumber Co. The business went into receivership. He then worked for Cato Johns and became secretary of Johns Grocery Co. Selling out in 1893, he and McMurren in October bought their present plant from Baker City Consolidated Lumber Co."
